Class Description:
FOLIA is a decorative & highly ornamental (Baroque) expression of a simple leafing out of a script letterform. We take cues from plants that do this to regenerate themselves and instead of photosynthesis, we use our paints pencils to fluff up a hairline of a letterform.
Lots of attention will be given to practicing painting leaves with round and filbert brushes, letting them dry, and then drawing on top of them and around them to form leaf and wave-like forms, grown from a hairline. No matter your level of comfort or experience with a brush, this course offers several opportunities to work with what’s on the page to bring out the best of everything and complete a unique and lush letter EVERY time.
Supply List:
Paper: Hot Press Watercolor paper or any smooth multimedia paper
Pencils:
Watercolor Pencils or colored pencils - any of your favorite colors
Graphite Pencil for sketching.
Erasers:
White Eraser
2 Kneaded erasers
Brushes:
Filbert (sizes 4 & 6)- any brand
Round (size 4) - any brand
Fine Pentel Aquash
Paint:
Your favorite watercolors and/or gouache tube or pan
Gouache white tube
Misc:
Paint palette (I use a porcelain one)
Paper towel or washcloth
Water container
